Because this picture pretty much depicts the way I feel the employees at Nordstrom have been taking their job duties lately. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Nordstrom shopping. It's like a little slice of Heaven for me to walk into a Nordstrom department store and covet all of the lovely things to be purchased there. However, I'm HUGE on customer service, and I have NOT been impressed with my last two trips to two different local Nordstrom stores here in the Sacramento area. In fact, the first time it happened, I let the sales associate know that I didn't appreciate the fact that he flat out ignored me for at least ten minutes and then proceeded to practically rip a box set of cologne out of my hand as he asked me not to open the box. (Um, hello, what was I supposed to do? I wanted to smell the cologne before purchasing it, and there was no sample sat out amongst the other sample bottles. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and open the box so I could smell the only available bottle there was, which happened to be boxed! *It didn't have cellophane over it...I'm not that determined!) I digress...
I told the gentleman that I was less than pleased with the fact that I was being ignored even though there were two sales associates who could have helped me, and that I thought it was unusual behavior since that's not typically Nordstrom's style. I mean, hello! I pay good money for things there, and Nordstrom has a reputation for good customer service, which is why I often choose them over other department stores, so the least I expect in return is a friendly person who can help me while I'm standing there obviously not knowing what I'm doing and needing help!
Now, let me just say, that I've definitely had my fair share of jobs working in customer service, and because I've always been complimented on such skills, I take it very seriously! It's not that difficult to be polite to someone and to ask them if they need help with something. You don't even have to really smile (or fake smile for that matter) in order to do that. Even if I end up saying "no thanks", at least you made the effort, which counts for something in my book!
So, then today, I went to a different Nordstrom and was looking for tinted moisturizer at the makeup counter and was ignored again! Needless to say, I was NOT happy! What's the deal??
I don't encounter this in the clothing or shoe departments. So, what's going on at the makeup counters?? Are other people out there experiencing this as well? I'm just curious....
